BMOS First Year Involvement Opportunities
Western is home to over 190 student clubs including academic, cultural and religious, and special interest/hobby clubs. There are clubs for everyone’s interest. You may sign up to participate as a member of a club in September during Clubs Week. Below are a list of several business clubs that you can get involved in:

Advanced Entry Opportunity Students’ Association (AEOSA)

About: The AEOSA is a valuable utility for students admitted to Ivey's Advanced Entry Opportunity program or for those interested in applying to Ivey during their second year of university. With a wide range of portfolios, the AEOSA is a great way to get involved and establish lifelong networks. AEOSA offer social, academic, extracurricular and philanthropic enrichment that leads to success on the road to Ivey. This includes, but is not limited to, academic review sessions, business conferences, intramural sports, as well as workshops and meetings with top corporations.

Committees: first years are welcome to interview for their Executive Committees, applications are due September 30, 2010 and can be found on their website

Management and Organizational Studies Students Association (MOSSA)

About:
MOSSA's purpose is to provide networking opportunities between students, faculty and professionals. The club acts as a basis in which undergrads can find mentors and connections for study and career purposes. MOSSA exposes students to post-graduate possibilities, clarifies designation requirements, and further emphasizes the positive MOS student experience.

Western Capital Markets (WCM)

About: WCM is engaged in teaching students about investing in the stock market. The club organizes their own stock trading competition and provides information sessions and weekly meetings to learn more about capital markets and trading.



Western Investment Club

About: Similar to Western Capital Markets, this club helps students develop a greater understanding of the stock market. Members network at social events, attend seminars with industry professionals and develop communication skills by making and listening to presentations at weekly meetings. This club manages its own $100,000+ portfolio.

Committees: There is an opportunity to participate as an analyst or a researcher to assist with stock picks and portfolio management of the club’s $100,000+ portfolio.



Western Retail Business Club

About:
WBRC is all about product creation. The club members are entirely responsible for designing a product, manufacturing it, marketing it and ultimately selling it to the Western Community.  Profits from the venture are donated to an international charity of members’ choice. The WRBC also holds a Speakers Series that features professionals from the industry who are willing to share their expertise with the club. In addition, the club organizes intramural sports teams, academic study sessions for Business 1220 and Economics 1020, and various other social events throughout the year.

Economics Student Association (ESA)

About:  The Economics Students’ Association (ESA) is student-run organization designed to provide academic support for economics students, and advance the non-curricular knowledge and interests of the community. Throughout the year, ESA hosts exam study sessions, social events, guests speakers, vocational introductions, recruitment sessions, commerce tutorials, and general meetings.
Committees: positions are created as needed, check website regularly or ask at Clubs Week booth!


DECA U Western

About: DECA U provides leadership opportunities to first-year students who want to be involved in the training and planning of an annual business conference and case competition hosted in downtown Toronto

Committees: communications, finance, training, fundraising, social commissioner positions available for first-year students.

Western Apprentice (WA)
About: The Western Apprentice is modeled after Donald Trump’s reality show, The Apprentice. This club intends to give students the chance to use what they have learned in a series of real business scenarios. Four challenges will be run during the year where students will compete again each other to come up with ideas to solve current issues within a business.
Western Microcredit Society (WMS)

About:
Western’s Microcredit Society is a club driven to alleviate poverty by raising funds and awareness about the power of microcredit. This revolutionary method of giving miniscule loans to credible entrepreneurs is an effective way to help others help themselves break the line-of-poverty. All proceeds go to a Microfinance Institution, namely, Opportunity International.

Western Entrepreneurial Society (WES)
About: WES is a club dedicated to furthering the development of student-led entrepreneurial endeavors through our extensive resources, partnerships, education and peer guidance.  This club has hosted several events known to the Western community including Western Dragons Den, SIFE & USC Business Incubator.
